Het is wederom een lange tijd geleden dat ik dit blog voor het laatst een update gegeven had. Er gebeurt hier vrij weinig, dus heeft het geen zin om iedere maand een nieuw blog te schrijven. Er is nu bijna een jaar voorbij, ik besef nu dat ik wel erg weinig aandacht heb besteed aan mijn blog, vandaar nu een extra lange uitgave =D.
-Verscheidene Herinneringen-
Ik heb een aantal gedachten in mijn hoofd van de afgelopen paar maanden die ik niet zeker kan plaatsen. Rody heeft op een avond een keer pizza gemaakt samen met Jackie en ik, hoewel ik meer boodschappen jongen was. Ik moest bakpapier halen, omdat Rody vergeten was dat te kopen. Ik weet echter niet meer wanneer dit gebeurde. Het kan zijn dat het op de avond van Oud en Nieuw was, of misschien wel een andere dag. Ook weet ik niet meer wat we voor Oud en Nieuw gedaan hebben, of wie er langs kwamen. Dit is niet omdat ik lazarus was, het is omdat het nu al bijna een jaar geleden is, haha. Ik weet dat Rody redelijk wat vuurwerk bij zich had en dat ik twee potten had afgestoken. Ook waren Bjorn en Daniel redelijk bezopen en heb ik gehoord dat Bas te diep in het glaasje gekeken had. Ook waren de nitraten van Bjorn niet geliefd bij het autoalarm van de buren, haha. Iemand die dit nog kan herinneren?
-Oud en Nieuw 2008-
Dan toch maar een stukje over Oud en Nieuw 2008. Van wat ik me kan herinneren was het een leuk feest. De foto’s staan op de hyves van Jackie. We hebben een lange tijd in de So What! besteed, wat uiteraard altijd gezellig is. Een grappig moment gebeurde op het moment dat we vertrokken. Jackie ging haar jas halen, maar kwam huilend terug, omdat ze haar jas niet kon vinden. Toen ik ging kijken, bleek dat haar jas op een andere haak hing. Dit is nu waar ik mee leef, haha. Nadat we op onze fietsen stapten, begon ook Rody vreemd te doen. Hij ging hevig zijn stuur heen en weer gooien op zijn fiets, waardoor hij viel. We vonden dit niet vreemd. Peter bood ons aan om zijn huisje te bekijken, dus gingen we met Peter mee. Hevig onder de invloed van alcohol kwamen we bij Peter zijn huis aan. Rody die nogal diep in het glaasje had gekeken was een beetje luidruchtig. Ook was er een veer van zijn zadel afgebroken, waardoor hij niet normaal kon fietsen. Eenmaal binnen gingen we Guitar Hero/Singstar spelen, wat het hele principe van stil zijn de goot in gooide. Ik weet niet of Peter geen buren heeft, of super isolatie. Het maakte verders niet uit, want het was gezellig. Hoe was thuis zijn gekomen weet ik niet meer. Rody had de grootste problemen, aangezien hij een kapotte zadel had en belachelijk dronken was. Het was een gezellig feest in ieder geval. Oud en Nieuw viel op een donderdag, geloof ik. Rody, Jackie en ik zijn die zaterdag ook nog een keer naar de So What! geweest, waar het een stuk leger was. Niet heel vreemd, gezien iedereen er al was met Oud en Nieuw.
-Verjaardag-
Dit was de tweede keer dit jaar dat ik in Nederland was. Ook hier kan ik me niet veel van herinneren. Het probleem is wederom de tijd dat dit achter de rug was. Veel mensen waren aanwezig, zowel voor Bjorn, als voor mij. Rick, Rody, Jackie, Youri en Peter om de namen maar even op te noemen. Voor de mensen die bij Hoogvliet werkten was het heel grappig te horen dat onze acties die wij uithaalden zoveel jaar geleden nog steeds verteld worden. We hebben echt een dergelijke reputatie achtergelaten.
-Playstation 3-
Dankzij Jackie heb ik ook een PS3, zoals sommige van jullie weten. Dit had ik als cadeau gekregen voor mijn verjaardag, dat iedereen die voor mij een cadeau aan het zoeken was al wist. Een beetje jammer, want ik kon niemand vertellen dat ik een PS3 had gehad, want iedereen wist het al… In ieder geval, aantal spellen gekregen die ik dan nu eindelijk heb uitgespeeld. Ik heb mijn World of Warcraft account stopgezet, voornamelijk wegens geldgebrek, maar ook om even een pauze in te schaffen. Dit heb ik gebruikt om nu mijn PS3 spellen uit te spelen. Elk spel dat een story mode heeft heb ik uitgespeeld. De enige spellen die ik nog uit moet spelen zijn Fat Princess en FIFA 09. De laatste heeft niet echt een Story Mode, maar een ‘Be A Pro’ mode, waarbij ik mezelf als beginnende voetballer naar elite status moet brengen in vier seizoenen. Misschien is het nu ook tijd om mijn Playstation 2 spellen uit te spelen. Jackie en ik hebben geteld hoeveel spellen ik nog niet uitgespeeld heb. Van al mijn PS2 spellen heb ik 23 niet uitgespeeld. Ik weet het, het is redelijk slecht. Het enige nadeel is, sommige opgeslagen bestanden die ik op geheugenkaarten heb staan kan ik niet gebruiken. De PS3, zoals jullie wel weten, heeft geen slot om die kaart erin te stoppen. Ik moet een adapter kopen om mijn data over te zetten, want de PS3 moet het omzetten naar een bestand dat de PS3 kan lezen. Ik zou met mijn PS2 en een USB mijn bestanden op mijn computer kunnen zetten, maar zover ik weet bestaat er niet een programma die dit kan dus heb ik die adapter nodig.
-Werk-
Dan wordt het nu tijd voor wat serieuzere onderwerpen. Werk is gewoon slecht op het moment. Ik werk als een freelancer bij Babel Media, maar ik heb nu al een aantal maanden geen werk gekregen. Ik moet elke maand huur betalen, uiteraard en ik liep een tijd achter. Ik had aan het einde van afgelopen jaar een aantal weken werk, wat mij de mogelijkheid gaf om deze schuld af te lossen. Helaas zit ik nu weer in dezelfde situatie. Ik krijg elke week wel een mailtje dat er projecten aan komen, maar dat ze de laatste details missen. Dit is dan het enige wat ik hoor. Elke keer hoop ik op werk, maar ik krijg nooit meer te horen dan dat er projecten aan komen. Dit vind ik een frustrerende situatie, want ik zit nu in een situatie waar ik niks kan veroorloven. Al het geld dat ik heb moet ik sparen voor eventuele treinkosten naar werk, of andere kosten die ik moet kunnen betalen.
-Studie-
Zoals sommige van jullie weten is dat ik weer studeer. Ik studeer bij een bedrijf genaamd: JustIT. Het is een bedrijf dat specialiseert zich in het trainen van mensen in ICT, een CV schrijft en daarbij ook nog een stageplek regelt en werk garandeert. Ik heb nu de studie van Windows XP af, waarbij ik mij nu voorbereid op mijn examen. Ik bepaal zelf wanneer ik dit examen afleg. Aangezien er hier een heftig prijskaartje aan hangt, weet ik niet wanneer dit zal gebeuren. Het belangrijke is; dat ik mijn stageplek krijg, zodra ik slaag voor mijn XP examen. Dit duurt 4-8 weken en daarna wordt het zoeken voor een baan. Krijg ik binnen zoveel tijd geen baan, dan betalen zij het bedrag dat ik hun heb betaald terug.
-Autorijlessen-
Zoals jullie wel weten ben ik ook bezig met autorijlessen. Het gaat vrij goed en ik ben bijna klaar om mijn praktisch examen af te leggen. Ik moet nog wel mijn theorie examen halen. Dit is wederom een geld situatie, maar dit hopelijk binnenkort opgelost zijn. Ik maak nog af en toe kleine foutjes, zoals het af laten slaan van de auto voor een kruispunt, of verkeerslicht, maar dit is vaak niet zo ernstig. Het enige punt waar ik soms moeite mee heb is het nemen van rotondes in Engeland. Het gaat nogal snel soms en dat inzicht heb ik nog niet helemaal. Het is niet slecht, maar ik moet dat nog eventjes verfijnen.
-Auto-
Ook weten de mensen dat Jackie en ik een auto hebben. Het is een 1996 Rover 216SI. De batterij is alleen een paar weken terug overleden. De auto is overigens in goede staat, alleen de batterij besloot om er mee te kappen zonder enige aanleiding. Zodra ik en Jackie onze rijbewijzen hebben zullen we vast en zeker vaker naar Nederland komen, gezien het goedkoper uitkomt dan vliegen. Misschien dat we dan eens andere verjaardagen kunnen bezoeken =O.
-Voetbal Wedstrijden-
Ik ben ook nog naar een vriendschappelijke wedstrijd tussen Engeland en Slowakije geweest. Het was een leuke ervaring, want de wedstrijd speelde zich af in het Wembley Stadion, wat een groot stadion is. Ook ben ik naar een Tottenham Hotspur tegen Manchester City wedstrijd geweest. Ook dit was een leuke ervaring. Hier een paar foto's:
-Rody in Engeland-
Ik kreeg een paar weken terug van Rody een sms’je. Dit sms’je legde uit dat Rody een weekje vrij had van werk en dat hij een weekendje hier wilde blijven. Dit hebben we even overlegd met de ouders van Jackie en die keurden dit goed. Het was even lastig regelen, gezien Rody niet altijd snel reageerde en niet duidelijk had aangegeven hoe hij zou komen, wanneer en hoe lang. Maarja… dat is Rody voor je, haha. Eerst zou hij moet de auto komen, maar dat werd het uiteindelijk niet. Hij kwam met de trein. Hij had pech dat de trein te vroeg vertrok vanuit Brussel, waardoor hij dus 90 minuten moest wachten op de volgende trein. Uiteindelijk kwam hij aan op King’s Cross. Vanuit daar zou hij de metro naar Tower Hill nemen. Helaas bleek dat het hele station was afgesloten, vanwege onduidelijke redenen. Hij moest dus naar een ander station en dan lopend naar Tower Hill. Ik ging met de trein naar Tower Hill en toen ik daar aankwam, was hij daar. Hij bleef hier een paar dagen en we hebben over het algemeen gerelaxt. Rody heeft uiteraard weer gekookt (zelfs als hij vakantie heeft wilt hij koken, haha). We hebben verschillende films gekeken, hebben een dag genomen om te winkelen, wat vooral op Games en Gamestation en HMV terecht kwam. We hebben ook een hele wazige film gekeken, genaamd: Black Sheep. Iedereen die een beetje van horror houdt en van hele foute films, dit is een goede oplossing. Het is zo slecht, dat het goed is. Ook keken we afleveringen van The IT Crowd dat een leuke serie is. Ook hadden we een barbecue op de dag dat Rody aankwam, dit was ook wel leuk. Verders hebben we wat games gespeeld op de PS3. We zijn ook nog naar Land of the Lost geweest in de bioscoop. Niemand verwachtte veel van deze film, dus waren we tevreden, want het is een redelijke film. Geen goede film, maar onze negatieve verwachtingen maakten het een betere ervaring dan we in eerste instantie dachten.
-Nieuw Jaar 2009-
Nou, zoals er werd verwacht, we willen ook weer dit jaar komen. De plannen? Het maakt mij niet zo heel veel uit. De laatste paar keer zijn we steeds bij mij gebleven, maar het is ook mogelijk om het bij iemand anders te doen. Ook kunnen we weer het bierspel spelen, wat we de afgelopen paar keren steeds gedaan hebben. Als iemand een idee heeft, dan hoor ik dat graag.
Dit is dan alles wat ik te melden heb. Ik hoop dat het niet te veel om te lezen was, haha.

However, I cannot remember when this happened. It could be that it happened on the day of New Year’s Eve, or on a different day, but I am not sure.
Aside from that, I cannot remember much about what we did before New Year’s Eve, or who stopped by. This was not, because I was wasted, it is because it happened nearly a year ago, haha.
I do remember that Rody had a decent amount of fireworks with him and that I lit two pieces myself, which were quite impressive. I also remember that the crackers Bjorn had made the car alarm of the neighbours go haywire. I also remember that Bjorn and Daniel were pretty drunk and that Bas was as drunk as a skunk.
Can anyone else remember these things?
-New Year’s Eve 2008-
Well, a bit about New Year’s Eve 2008 then.
From what I can remember, it was quite fun. You can find the pictures at the Hyves page of Jackie. We spend a long time in the So What!, which is a good thing, of course.
A funny thing that happened was when we were leaving. Jackie went to get her jacket, but came back crying, saying she couldn’t find it. I went to look and noticed it was hanging on the opposite side. You see, this is what I have to deal with, haha.
After we got onto our cycles, Rody decided to act weird as well. He started to swing his steering wheel back and forth heavily, which caused him to fall. We were not surprised.
Peter offered to take us to his new crib, which we agreed to. Heavily under the influence of alcohol we arrived at Peter’s. Rody, who had a bit too much of a drink, was a bit noisy. Also, for some reason, a spring of his seat from his bike had broken off, which made it difficult to ride the cycle normally.
Once we got inside, we played a bit of Guitar Hero and Singstar, which basically ruined the principle of being quiet outside. I am not sure whether Peter has no neighbours, or has extreme isolation. It is not a big deal though, it was fun.
How we arrived at home, I have forgotten. Rody had the most problems, considering his seat was broken and was the drunkest out of all of us.
Either way, it was a good party.
I believe that New Year’s Eve was on a Thursday. Rody, Jackie and me went to the So What! Again on Saturday, though this time it was quite empty. Not so odd, considering everyone was there at New Year’s Eve.
-Birthday-
This was the second time I was in the Netherlands this year. The same story applies here; I cannot remember much of it, due to the fact that this happened a few months ago.
A lot of people attended, both for Bjorn and me. Rick, Rody, Youri, Jackie and Peter, just to mention their names. For those who worked at Hoogvliet, it was really funny to hear that our mischievous behaviour is still being told nowadays. It is as if we left a reputation behind.
-Playstation 3-
Thanks to Jackie I now have a PS3 as well, as some of you know. I got this as a present for my birthday. Anybody that was looking for a potential gift for me was aware of this. It is a shame though, as I couldn’t tell anybody that I had gotten a PS3, as people already knew.
Anyway, I had gotten a few games from you guys, which I have finally finished. I cancelled my World of Warcraft account, because of money issues, as well because I wanted to take a break.
I used this time to finish the games on the PS3. Every game that has a Story Mode, I have completed. The only games that haven’t been completed yet are; Fat Princess and FIFA 09. The latter one doesn’t have a story mode, but it has something similar, called; Be A Pro, where you have to take yourself as starting footballer to an elite stature in 4 seasons.
Maybe it is time to finish some Playstation 2 games as well. Jackie and me counted how many games I still have unfinished. From all my Playstation 2 games, I have 23 games yet to finish. I am aware that this is pretty bad. The downside is, most of the save data I have is stored on the memory cards. The PS3 has no slot for PS2 memory cards, so I need to find an adapter to convert these files to my PS3. I could put my save data on a USB stick and transfer it to my PS3, but the PS3 only reads converted files and so far I have not seen any software capable of doing such a thing, this is why I need that adapter.
-Work-
Well, it is finally time for some serious subjects. Work is pretty bad at the moment. I am still working as a freelancer at Babel Media. However, I haven’t gotten any work in the past few months. I have to pay rent every month, obviously and I was behind on that for a little while.
At the end of last year, I had a few weeks of work, which gave me the possibility to actually pay my debts.
Unfortunately, I am in the same situation again. Every week I am being told that the projects are coming, but they are missing the last few details. This is the only thing I am being told. Every time I am hoping for some work, but I am never being told more, than that projects are under way. I find this a tedious situation, as the situation I am in now, caused me to be unable to afford anything. All the money I get I have to save for possible train journeys to work, or other financial requirements.
-Study-
As some of you know, I am studying again. I am studying at a company called; Just IT. It is a company that specializes in training people for IT, writes your CV, gets you a work placement and guarantees you a job. I have finished the course for Windows XP and I am no preparing myself for my exam, which I can take any time I want. The problem is, there is a fancy price on this exam and I am unsure when I will be able to do this. The important thing is, is that I get my work placement, as soon as I pass my XP exam. The work placement will last 4-8 weeks and after that they will start looking for a job with me. If I do not get a job within a certain amount of time after I have completed that course, they’ll pay me back the money I paid them.
-Driving Lessons-
As you guys know, I am also doing my driving lessons. It is going pretty well and I am nearly ready for my practical exam, I think. I do have to get my theory exam first though. This is another financial situation, but hopefully this will be solved soon. I do make minor mistakes occasionally, such as stalling the car in front of a roundabout, crossroads, or traffic light, but usually this is not that bad. The only things I have some difficulties with are taking roundabouts. It usually goes pretty quick and I am missing that experience to see when I can take a gap and when not. It is not terrible, but I simply have to perfect it.
-Car-
The people are also aware that Jackie and I got our own car. It is a 1996 Rover 216SI. However, the battery died a few weeks ago, for no good reason. The car itself is in good condition, though. As soon as Jackie and I get our driving license, we might be able to visit the Netherlands more often. We might even be able to visit other people’s birthdays =O.
-Football Matches-
I have also been at a friendly international between England and Slovakia. It was a good experience, because the match was played at the Wembley Arena, which is a massive stadium. I have also been to a Tottenham Hotspur v. Manchester City match. This was also a nice experience. Here are some pictures:
-Rody in England-
A few weeks ago, I got a text from Rody, asking me if it was okay for him to come to England, as he had some days off work. We discussed this with Jackie’s parents and they were okay with it. It was a bit of a hassle to sort the details out, considering Rody wasn’t always quick with his responses and didn’t gave a clear answer how, when and for how long he was going to stay. But, well...that is Rody for ya, haha.
He was coming by car first, however, ultimately he came by train. He had some bad luck that his train from Brussels left too early, which had the effect that he had to wait another 90 minutes. Eventually he arrived at King’s Cross. From there on, he would take the underground to Tower Hill. Unfortunately, the entire station at Tower Hill was closed, for not very clear reasons. He had to go to a different station and walk to Tower Hill from there.
I took the train to Tower Hill myself and when I arrived there, he was already waiting. He stayed here for a few days and it was spend relaxing for most of the time. Obviously Rody decided to cook one of the evenings (even when he takes a holiday, he wants to cook, haha). We watched various movies and spend a day shopping as well, which was mostly spend on going to Gamestation, GAME and HMV. We also watched a very dodgy movie called: Black Sheep. Anybody that likes a bit of horror and really bad movies should watch this. It is so bad, it is pretty good. We also watched a few episodes of the IT Crowd, which is a good series. We also had a BBQ when Rody arrived, which was quite good.
We also played some games on the PS3 and we went to see Land of the Lost at the cinema. Nobody of us had great expectations of this film, so when this film turned out to be decent, we were quite pleased. Not a good movie, but our negative expectations caused the movie to turn out better than we thought it would.
-New Year 2009-
As expected, we want to come to the Netherlands again with this New Year. Any plans? I am not too fussed, really. The last few times, we spend this at my house, but we could easily do this at someone else’s house. We could also play the beer game again, which has proven to be quite a hit the previous games. If anybody has an idea, do tell me.

Its a shame we cannot remember much of new years and such, but well everyone was there. Hopefully both of us will be road worthy soon and we can have regular road trips to Holland :) And hopefully your XP exam will go well and make you more prosperous with getting a job.
